Modifying the Sound in Real TimePad Control ModeThis specifies how the D Beam will behave when it is obstructed. Ifthis is set to MOMENTARY, the parameter will be on only while theD Beam is obstructed, and will turn off when you stop obstructing it.If this is set to LATCH, the parameter will alternately be switchedon/off each time you obstruct the D Beam.Value: MOMENTARY, LATCHPAD trigger settings are saved independently for eachperformance as part of the performance settings. This lets youcreate performances that make effective use of controllersettings. If Patch mode is selected, this is saved as part of the systemsettings. If you want to save the settings, press [F8 (SystemWrite)].Solo SynthOn the Fantom-X you can play a monophonic synthesizer whosepitch is controlled by the D Beam.1. Hold down [SHIFT] and press D BEAM [SOLO SYNTH].The Solo Synth screen appears.fig.10-006_50OSC 1/2 WaveformSelect the waveform. SAW is a sawtooth wave, and SQR is a squarewave.Value: SAW, SQROSC 1/2 Pulse WidthSpecifies the pulse width of the waveform. By cyclically modifyingthe pulse width you can create subtle changes in the tone.* The Pulse Width is activated when “SQR” is selected with OSC1/2waveform.Value: 0–127OSC 1/2 Coarse TuneAdjusts the pitch of the tone’s sound up or down in semitone steps(+/-4 octaves).Value: -48–+48OSC 1/2 Fine TuneAdjusts the pitch of the tone’s sound up or down in 1-cent steps (+/-50 cents).Value: -50–+50OSC2 LevelAdjust the OSC2 level.Value: 0–127OSC1 Sync SwitchTurning this switch on produces a complex sound with manyharmonics. This is effective when the OSC1 pitch is higher than theOSC2 pitch.Value: OFF, ONFilter TypeWhen you press [F6 (Panel View)], the Panel View screen willappear, which displays the above parameters in graphicalfashion, simulating an analog synthesizer. From the Panel Viewscreen, you can press [F2 (Image View)] to open the Image Viewscreen, where you can see a graphical indication of the D Beamoutput value. Press [EXIT] to return to the Control Settingscreen.2. Move the cursor to the parameter that you want to set, andturn the VALUE dial or press [INC]/[DEC] to make thesetting.3. If you want to save the settings, press [F8 (System Write)].If you press [EXIT] the Assignable screen will close.Setting for the Solo Synth are saved for system settings.Selects the type of filter.OFF: No filter is used.LPF: Low Pass Filter. This reduces the volume of allfrequencies above the cutoff frequency (Cutoff Freq)in order to round off, or un-brighten the sound. Thisis the most common filter used in synthesizers.BPF: Band Pass Filter. This leaves only the frequencies inthe region of the cutoff frequency, and cuts the rest. This can be useful when creating distinctive sounds.HPF: High Pass Filter. This cuts the frequencies in theregion below the cutoff frequency. This is suitablefor creating percussive sounds emphasizing theirhigher tones.PKG: Peaking Filter. This emphasizes the frequencies inthe region of the cutoff frequency. You can use thisto create wah-wah effects by employing an LFO tochange the cutoff frequency cyclically.CutoffSelects the frequency at which the filter begins to have an effect onthe waveform’s frequency components.Value: 0–127123
