Creating a PerformanceSelecting the ParameterControlled by the RealtimeControllers or D BeamController (Control Setting)Make Settings for the RealtimeControllers and D Beam Controller(Ctrl)fig.09-013_50The Fantom-X lets you assign the parameters that will be affectedwhen you operate the realtime control knobs, assignable switches, DBeam, pitch bend, or modulation lever. This lets you modify thesound in a variety of ways by operating the controllers.1. Access the Performance Layer or Mixer screen, and selectthe Performance whose settings you wish to modify (p. 99).If you want to create a performance from scratch (rather thanstarting from an existing performance), execute the Initializeoperation (p. 119).2. Press [F4 (Ctrl Setting)].The Control Setting (Performance) screen appears.fig.09-011_50For details on these settings, refer to “Selecting the ParameterControlled by the Realtime Controllers or D BeamController (Control Setting)” (p. 114).D Beam (Pad Trigger)Instead of striking the pads themselves, you can also use the D Beamcontroller to control the sounding of the pads.PAD trigger settings are saved independently for eachperformance as part of the performance settings. This lets youcreate performances that make effective use of controllersettings.3. The parameters are organized into several editing groups.Press [F1 (⇑)] [F2 (⇓)] to select the tab for the editing groupthat contains the parameter you wish to edit.4. Use [CURSOR] to move the cursor to the parameter youwish to modify.5. Turn the VALUE dial or press [INC]/[DEC] to get the valueyou want.6. Repeat steps 3-5 to set each parameter you want to edit.7. The settings for the Solo Synth are saved for the systemsettings. Press [F8 (System Write)] to execute the writeoperation.8. The settings in the Control Setting screen are savedindependently for each performance. If you wish to save thechanges you’ve made, press [WRITE] to perform the Saveoperation (p. 120). If you do not wish to save changes,press [EXIT] to return to the Performance Layer or Mixerscreen.If you return to the Performance PLAY screen without saving,the display will indicate “*,” reminding you that thePerformance settings have been modified.Pad NumberSpecifies the pad number affected by the D Beam.Value: 1–16Pad VelocitySpecifies the strength of the pad sound played by the D Beamcontroller.Value: 1–127Pad Control ModeThis specifies how the D Beam will behave when it is obstructed. Ifthis is set to MOMENTARY, the parameter will be on only while theD Beam is obstructed, and will turn off when you stop obstructing it.If this is set to LATCH, the parameter will alternately be switchedon/off each time you obstruct the D Beam.Value: MOMENTARY, LATCHIf you turn off the power or select a different sound while thedisplay indicates “*,” your edited Performance will be lost.114
