T10/1236-D Revision 20 18 July 2001The temperature sensed in the device at the time the LOG SENSE command is performed shall be returned in theparameter field defined by parameter code 0000h. The one byte binary value specifies the temperature of thedevice in degrees Celsius. Temperatures equal to or less than zero degrees Celsius shall be indicated by a valueof zero. If the device server is unable to detect a valid temperature because of a sensor failure or other condition, the value returned shall be FFh. The temperature should be reported with an accuracy of plus or minus threeCelsius degrees while the device is operating at a steady state within the environmental limits specified for thedevice. No comparison is performed between the temperature value specified in parameter 0000h and thereference temperature specified in parameter 0001h. The state of the parameter control bits for parameter 0000his specified in table 145.Table 145 — Parameter control bits for temperature parameters (0000h and 0001h)Bit Value DescriptionDU 0 Value provided by device serverDS 1 Device server does not support saving of parameterTSD 0 Device server manages saving of parameterETC 0 No threshold comparison is made on this valueTMC xx Ignored when ETC is 0LBIN 1 The parameter is in binary formatLP 1 The parameter is a list parameterA reference temperature for the device may optionally be provided by the device using parameter code 0001h. Ifno reference temperature is provided, the parameter may not be provided in the log page or alternatively, thereference temperature value may be set to the value of FFh. The one byte binary value should reflect themaximum reported sensor temperature in degrees Celsius at which the device is capable of operating continuouslywithout degrading the device's operation or reliability beyond manufacturer accepted limits. The reference temperaturemay change for vendor specific reasons. The state of the parameter control bits for parameter 0001h isspecified in table 145.188 dpANS SCSI Primary Commands - 2 (SPC-2)
