KAREL DANĚK* 1923, KarolínBOŽENA MAJEROVÁ* 1899, ČáslavSpolu s mladším bratrem Antonínem patřil k odbojové skupině Světlana. Ve svém domě ukrývali řadulidí, které pronásledovala Státní bezpečnost. Když byli prozrazeni a StB je 29. června 1949 přišlazatknout, bránili se a při přestřelce Karel vážně zranil dva policisty. Bratři pak byli zatčeni, mučenive vyšetřovně v Uherském Hradišti a odsouzeni k trestu smrti. Zemřeli na popravišti 14. října 1950.Patřila k odbojové skupině kolem agenta britské tajné služby Jana Brejchy. Její brněnský byt sloužiljako úkryt a jedno z kontaktních míst. V říjnu 1950 ji zatkla Státní bezpečnost. V procesu nazvanémMajerová a spol. byla odsouzena k doživotnímu vězení za velezradu a vyzvědačství. Trest jí byl pozdějizmírněn na dvacet pět let, na svobodu vyšla v květnu 1960.Together with his younger brother Antonín, Karel Daněk was part of the Světlana resistancemovement. They concealed a number of fugitives from the communist secret police (StB) in theirhouse. When they were betrayed and the StB came to take them into custody on 29 June 1949 theyresisted. In the ensuing gun battle, Karel seriously injured two policemen. The brothers were thenapprehended and tortured at an interrogation facility in Uherské Hradiště. They were subsequentlysentenced to death and executed on 14 October 1950.Božena Majerová belonged to the resistance group headed by the British secret services agent JanBrejcha. Her Brno apartment was used as a safe house and as one of the group’s points of contact.In October 1950, she was arrested by the communist secret police. During a subsequent triallabelled “Majerová and Co.”, she was sentenced to life imprisonment for espionage and treason.Her sentence was later commuted to 25 years in jail.
