It was the first timefor Judson to win the CCAC regular season and tournamentchampionships along with advancing to theNAIA Division II Tournament. It was also the first timethat Judson has had a CCAC “Player of the Year.”ccac championshipsWith a 10-2 regular season CCAC record, Judsonwon their first-ever CCAC championship. It camedown to the final regular season game against TrinityChristian in Palos Heights, Ill., as Judson took thechampionship with a 78-69 win. Judson had startedoff the conference with a 7-0 record before droppingtwo straight CCAC contests. They then regroupedand won their final three CCAC games for the championship.The CCAC Tournament Championship was just ashard as Judson had a bull’s-eye on their back due towinning the regular season. In the semi-final game,Judson held off a surging Calumet College team, 92-91, in the Lindner Fitness Center moving onto thechampionship game. Judson had to face CardinalStritch, who gave the Eagles one of their two CCAClosses, but had home court advantage. In their thirdmeeting of the season, Judson cruised to a 97-79 winfor their first-ever CCAC Tournament Championship.naia national tournamentBy winning the CCAC Tournament Championship,Judson received the automatic bid to the NAIA DivisionII National Tournament in Missouri. This was afirst for Judson as the last national tournament thatthey went to was the NCCAA in 1983. Judson drew#4 Walsh University and fell to the Cavaliers in thefirst round.naia all-americanNamed to the NAIA All-American Third-Team, DewayneRobinson became the fourth Judson player tobe named NAIA All-American. His third-team statusis the best, ever, for a Judson player.naia champions of characterSenior Justen Boyd claimed the NAIA Champions ofCharacter award for his play both on and off the field.He received the award at the NAIA National Tournamentin Missouri.ccac player of the yearWith such a season, Judson claimed a lot of postseasonawards. One of them was the CCAC Playerof the Year in Dewayne Robinson. This, again, wasa first for the program. Robinson led the CCAC inscoring at 21.1 points per game and was named theCCAC Player of the Week three times. He wasalso named to the All-CCAC First-Team.CCAC coach of the yearIn his final year as the head men’s basketballcoach, Jim Cook went out in style by gaining theCCAC Coach of the Year. He guided Judson totheir finest year, ever, with a 10-2 CCAC recordand won both the regular season and tournamentchampionships. He also had four players namedAll-CCAC and the CCAC Player of the Year.CCAC AwardsFour players were named to the All-CCAC teamswith three being first-team. Dewayne Robinson,Ilija Bojanic, and Justen Boyd were all named tothe All-CCAC First-Team while Joe Gonnam wasan All-CCAC Honorable Mention selection.Three players were awarded CCAC Player of theWeek for five different weeks. Robinson claimedthree of the five weeks while Boyd and Bojaniceach received the award, too.nccaa all-americanDewayne Robinson was named to the NCCAAAll-American First-Team for his performance. Heled the NCCAA in scoring for most of the seasonand finished second. He was also named NationalPlayer of the Week, once.
