W h a t A Y e a r F o r J u d s o n : 6 C C A C C h a m p i o n s h i p snew coach, new DirectionThe 2007 season brought a change in the <strong>Judson</strong>University volleyball program as Craig Vlietstra becamethe new head coach in August after JenniferAlderson stepped down after four seasons. Vlietstracame to <strong>Judson</strong> after coaching two seasons at theNCAA Division II level.Vlietstra was on the staff of Grand Valley State University(Mich.) in 2005 when they won the NCAA DivisionII National Championship. In the 2006 season,he was the assistant coach at Michigan Tech andhelped guide them to a NCAA Division II Tournamentberth. He has also made coaching stops at GlenOaks Community College and Michigan State Universityand was also the head coach at Siena Heights forsix seasons.the 2007 seasonThe 2007 season started off with a 4-2 record as <strong>Judson</strong>gave new head coach Craig Vlietstra his first winin his first match of the season over Ashford University.<strong>Judson</strong> then went 2-2 in their own tournamentand defeated Calumet College to start off <strong>CCAC</strong> play1-0. From that point, the season was up and downdue to injuries.There were series of combined wins and losses as<strong>Judson</strong> finished the season at 13-23. <strong>Judson</strong> finishedwith a 3-6 record in the <strong>CCAC</strong> for seventh place.They also were the NCCAA North Central regionalrunners-up.NCCAA Regional runners-upHosting the 2007 NCCAA North Central Regional,<strong>Judson</strong> University finished as the runners-up toBethel College. <strong>Judson</strong> played Bethel College in thechampionship and fell in three games, 30-16, 30-19,30-26.NCCAA awardsFour <strong>Judson</strong> players were given NCCAA awards asDebra Leganski led the way. Leganski was named tothe NCCAA All-American Second-Team and was NC-CAA All-North Central Region, too. Gaining NCCAAAll-North Central Region status were Erin Bultinck,Kym Gagnon, and Danielle Dull.NCCAA Academic all-americanAlesha Flikkema was named to the NCCAA AcademicAll-American team for <strong>Judson</strong>. This was her first timeon the academic all-American team.ccac awardsDebra Leganski was named to the All-<strong>CCAC</strong> HonorableMention team for the second year in a row. Shewas also named the <strong>CCAC</strong> Player of the Week forSeptember 4th.NAIA Region vii player of theweekBy gaining the <strong>CCAC</strong> Player of the Week forSeptember 4th, Leganski was awarded the NAIARegion VII Player of the Week. In four matches,Leganski recorded 123 total digs and averaged7.69 digs per game and 7.5 passes per gameas she was named to the <strong>Judson</strong> All-Tournamentteam. She recorded 39 digs in her first matchvs. Goshen College and then finished the tournamentwith 34 digs vs. Siena Heights.Leganski breaks singleseason record for digsBreaking her record for digs in the season thatshe set the season before, Debra Leganski recorded776 digs in the 2007. The 776 broke herschool record that she set in 2006 with 667.Leganski is all-time leader indigs per gameAveraging 6.17 digs per game, Debra Leganskitook over first place for all-time leader in digsper game. She is more than one dig per gameahead of second place. In two seasons, shehas 1,443 digs.Finishing her career in fourth place, Kym Gagnonaveraged 3.83 digs per game.1. Campioni was in two categoriesas she was seventh in assists (1,078)and fourth in assists per season (9.80).dull, campioni enter top 10for program recordsDanielle Dull is in the top 10 overall for theprogram in solo blocks and total blocks. Sheis seventh all-time in blocks solo (75) and 10thin overall blocks with 191. After one season,Carly Campioni is fifth overall in assists with1,078.
