ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011Data Format for the Interchange of Biometric and Forensic InformationReserved blocks, each consisting of several fields, are registered and allocatedfor use by specific vendors.. As these blocks may contain proprietaryinformation, no detailed information is provided regarding the content of thesevendor-defined fields aside from the range of field numbers in this standard. Fordetailed information on each of these tagged fields, the vendor must becontacted. These alternative blocks of reserved fields allow vendors to encodeminutiae data and any additional required characteristic or feature data inaccordance with their own system’s specific hardware and softwareconfiguration. Table 12 identifies the vendor implementations and their assignedblocks of field numbers.Record fields 126-150 correspond to the conventions defined and describedoriginally by the ANSI INCITS 378-2004 standard. ANSI/INCITS has deprecatedthis standard and adopted the ISO standard for fingerprint minutia (ISO/IEC19794-2). There is a direct correspondence between the original INCITSstandard and the later ISO standard.Record Fields 300-398 are the Extended Feature Set.Field 399 is used for “universal latent” annotation information.Record Type-9 does not contain fields for image hash, since it is not an imageRecord Type. All fields of the Type-9 records shall be recorded as ASCII text. Although thisrecord type can also be used to accommodate a variety of methods used bydifferent AFIS vendors for encoding minutiae data according to their particularrequirements, each vendor implementation must contain the first four fieldsdescribed below. Fields corresponding to the M1-378 / ISO 19794-2 features, the Extended Feature Set and the Universal Latent annotation may be used withor without the fields associated with registered implementations.Brad Wing 6/19/10 5:07 PMComment: This is an important distinction.Brad Wing 6/19/10 5:07 PMComment: New textBrad Wing 6/19/10 5:07 PMComment: New explanationMnemonic Condcode*Field Characternumber TypeTable 12 Type 9 record dataField nameOccur countMinMaxM 9.001 RECORD HEADER 1 1IDC M 9.002 N IMAGE DESIGNATION CHARACTER 1 1SIG M 9.003 N IMPRESSION TYPE 1 1--- M 9.004 –9.012DEPRECATED See previous versions of this standard for theirdefinitions.--- O 9.013 –9.030IAFIS FEATURESUserdefinedUserdefined--- O 9.031 – COGENT SYSTEMS FEATURES User User40DRAFT 2
