ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011Data Format for the Interchange of Biometric and Forensic Informationoriginal image that is represented in this record type, which is a reference typevalue / RTV. Other Record Types with images include an optional field for OIV.This enables a cross-reference of the image to be used biometrically and/orforensically with the original image and the log associated with how the imagewas processed to prepare it for the image Record Type.7.16 Type- 98 Information assurance recordThe Type-98 record shall contain security information that allows for theassurance of the authenticity and/or integrity of the transaction, including suchinformation as binary data hashes, attributes for audit or identification purposes, and digital signatures.7.17 Type-99 CBEFF biometric data recordType-99 records shall contain and be used to exchange biometric data that is notsupported by other ANSI/NIST-ITL lrecord types. This provides a basic level ofinteroperability and harmonization with the ANSI INCITS and other biometricinterchange formats. This is accomplished by using a basic record structure thatis conformant with ANSI INCITS 398-2005, the Common Biometric ExchangeFormats Framework (CBEFF) and a biometric data block specification registeredwith the International Biometrics Industry Association (IBIA) 13 . This record typesupports and is intended to be used for biometric data types or formats that arenot already represented by an existing ANSI/NIST data type.A CBEFF conformant Biometric Information Record (BIR) is made up of aHeader, a Biometric Data Block (BDB), and an optional Signature Block. TheType-99 record does not include the Signature Block. Information required bythe Header portion is encoded as tagged fields within the Type-99 record. Thefinal tagged field of the Type-99 record will contain biometric data as specified bythe BDB interchange format.•13 For more information, go to .21DRAFT 2
