An entry of "JPEGL" indicates that thelossless mode of the JPEG algorithm was used to compress the image. If theimage is captured in grayscale, then only the luminance component shall becompressed and transmitted. For JPEG, the data shall be formatted inaccordance with the JPEG File Interchange Format, Version 1.02 (JFIF) 7 .An entry of "JP2" indicates that the scanned or captured image was compressedusing lossy JPEG 2000. (Conformance with ISO 15444-1 is provided throughpart 4 of the standard, ISO 15444-4 “Conformance Testing”.) An entry of "JP2L"indicates that the lossless mode of the JPEG 2000 algorithm was used tocompress the image. For JPEG 2000, the data shall be formatted inconformance with JP2 format as described in ISO 15444-1.Where JPEG 2000 is used for the compression of fingerprint images,specification/options contained in Profile for 1000ppi Fingerprint Compressionshall apply. This reference addresses the 9 quality layers between 0.015 bppand 0.55 bpp.Where JPEG 2000 is used for compression of facial images, the followingconditions shall apply:Filters: The 9-7 irreversible filters described in ISO 15444-1 should be used forlossy mode; however for handheld devices (fixed point processors), the 5-3reversible filters may be used instead. The 5-3 reversible filters shall be used forlossless mode. A conformant decoder shall be able to decode code streamscreated through both filters.Number of resolution levels: The image shall be encoded using enoughresolution levels to ensure that a thumbnail with max (width, height)
