ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011Data Format for the Interchange of Biometric and Forensic Information17.1 Field 13.001 Record headerThe content of this field depends upon the encoding chosen. Seewww.biometrics.nist.gov/standard for the content of this field for the encodingused. In Traditional encoding, the content is the length of the record. In NIEMconformantencoding it is the record type-number.17.2 Field 13.002 Image designation character / IDCThis mandatory field shall be the IDC of the Type-13 record as found in the filecontent (CNT) field of the Type-1 record.17.3 Field 13.003 Impression type / IMPThis mandatory field shall be a latent code selected from Table 8, describing themanner by which the friction ridge image information was obtained. The longname is reflective of the fact that originally this field only applied to Fingerprintimages.17.4 Field 13.004: Source agency / ORI / SRCThis mandatory ASCII field shall contain the identification of the administration ororganization that originally captured the latent image contained in the record.Normally, the Originating Agency Identifier, ORI, of the agency that captured theimage will be contained in this field. The SRC shall be defined by the user andbe in accordance with the receiving agency.17.4.1 Field 13.005: Latent capture date / LCDThis mandatory ASCII field shall contain the date that the latent image containedin the record was captured. See the relevant Annex in this standard for the exactencoding format for this data. The YYYY characters shall represent the year theimage was captured; the MM characters shall be the tens and units values of themonth; and the DD characters shall be the tens and units values of the day in themonth.17.4.2 Field 13.006: Horizontal line length / HLLThis mandatory ASCII field shall contain the number of pixels contained on asingle horizontal line of the transmitted image.17.4.3 Field 13.007: Vertical line length / VLLThis mandatory ASCII field shall contain the number of horizontal lines containedin the transmitted image.17.4.4 Field 13.008: Scale units / SLCThis mandatory ASCII field shall specify the units used to describe the imagesampling frequency (pixel density). A "1" in this field indicates pixels per inch, or172DRAFT 2
