<strong>ANSI</strong>/<strong>NIST</strong>-<strong>ITL</strong> 1-<strong>2011</strong>Data Format for the Interchange of Biometric and Forensic InformationThe fourth information item (Tattoo description / TDS) in this subfield shallbe an ASCII text string that provides additional qualifiers to describe theimage or portion of the image. For example, to fully describe a tattoo, theremay be a class description of "ANIMAL", with a subclass description of"DOG", and qualified by "golden retriever with an overbite".An SMT image consisting of several parts or sub-images shall use multiplesubfields to fully describe the various parts or features found in the total image.The first subfield shall describe the most predominant feature or sub-imagecontained in the SMT image. Subsequent subfields shall describe additionalportions of the image that are not part of the main or central focal point of theimage. For example, a tattoo consisting of a man with a snake on the arm beingfollowed by a dog may contain three subfields - one describing the man, asecond describing the snake, and a third describing the dog.14.35 Field 10.043: Color / COLThis optional field shall contain one subfield corresponding to each subfieldcontained in Field 10.042. Each subfield shall contain one or more informationitems that list the color(s) of the tattoo or part of the tattoo. For each subfield, thefirst information item in the subfield shall be the predominant color chosen fromTable 62. Additional colors for the sub-field shall be entered as information itemsin the subfield.14.36 Field 10.044: <strong>Image</strong> transform / ITXThis optional field is used in the case when the image in this Type-10 record hasbeen transformed from the original image. Note that the untransformed image(s)(optionally) may be included in a Type-20 record.
