ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011Data Format for the Interchange of Biometric and Forensic Information13.9.40 EFS Field 9.340 Dots / DOTA dot is a single or partial ridge unit that is shorter than local ridge width. Longerridge units are considered standard ridges and should be marked as such, withtwo ridge endings. Potential dots that are substantially thinner than local ridgewidth should be marked as incipient ridges.
