TO THOSE WISHING TO SUBMIT MANUSCRIPTS1. <strong>The</strong> editors <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Canadian</strong>-<strong>American</strong> <strong>Review</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hungarian</strong> <strong>Studies</strong> invite thesubmission <strong>of</strong> original articles and review articles in the field <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hungarian</strong> studies.2. All manuscripts should be sent to the Editor, <strong>Canadian</strong>-<strong>American</strong> <strong>Review</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Hungarian</strong> <strong>Studies</strong>, Department <strong>of</strong> History, Royal Military College <strong>of</strong> Canada,Kingston, Ontario, Canada, K7L 2W3.3. Persons wishing to review books for the <strong>Review</strong> should get in touch with the Editor.4. Persons wishing to prepare review articles—either detailed discussions <strong>of</strong> a singlebook or a review <strong>of</strong> some area <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hungarian</strong> studies—should get in touch first with theEditor.5. Since the <strong>Review</strong> does not normally publish highly specialized studies intelligibleonly to people in a particular discipline, contributors wishing to submit very specializedwork should consult the Editor before sending in their manuscript.6. <strong>The</strong> submission <strong>of</strong> an article to the <strong>Review</strong> is taken to imply that it has not beenpreviously published and it is not being considered for publication elsewhere.7. Manuscripts submitted to the <strong>Review</strong> are usually reviewed by two members <strong>of</strong> theeditorial board (or outside readers) with the authors remaining anonymous. Commentson articles are conveyed to the authors with the commentators remaininganonymous.8. Articles submitted to the <strong>Review</strong> should be between 4,000 and 8,000 words (ca. 16to 32 pages) in length. <strong>Review</strong> articles should be between 1,500 and 3,000 words (ca. 6to 12 pages) in length. Manuscripts outside <strong>of</strong> these limits will be considered if thereis some good reason for their exceptional length or brevity. Articles in two parts maybe accepted provided each part is independently meaningful and intelligible.9. All manuscripts intended for publication should be submitted IN DUPLICATE.<strong>The</strong>y should be clearly typed on one side <strong>of</strong> 8V2 x 11 inch or similar size paper. <strong>The</strong>entire manuscript should be double spaced with ample margins. FOOTNOTESshould be numbered consecutively in the text and typed double spaced at the end,beginning on a fresh page.10. To avoid the loss <strong>of</strong> manuscripts in the mail, authors should always retain a copy<strong>of</strong> their contribution for themselves. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Review</strong> will not be responsible for lostarticles. To save on postal costs, manuscripts are not normally returned to the authorunless their return is specifically requested.11. On style, authors should follow previous issues <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Review</strong> or should use theChicago Manual <strong>of</strong> Style. When in doubt, they should get in touch with the Editor.12. Contributors whose native tongue is not English should have their manuscriptscarefully edited by someone experienced in writing for English language journalsBEFORE submitting their work to the <strong>Review</strong>.13. It is the policy <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Review</strong> to send final versions <strong>of</strong> all articles slated for publicationto the authors for approval before typesetting. First pro<strong>of</strong>s will be sent toauthors for correction, provided that they can promise to return them promptly.14. Authors <strong>of</strong> articles and review articles receive twenty-five <strong>of</strong>fprints. Additionalcopies may be bought, but they should normally be ordered in advance <strong>of</strong> publication.15. Publication <strong>of</strong> articles or review articles in the <strong>Review</strong> is usually limited to supportersand subscribers <strong>of</strong> the journal. Non-supporters wishing to submit manuscriptsare asked to take out subscriptions.
