Training must be a minimum of <strong>10</strong> hours amonth.Some people undertaking training are not actively seeking work. Where the benefitsAgency can confirm that the applicant is not required to actively seek work because oftheir circumstances, for example they have caring responsibilities, their training can berecognised in this policy.Evidence required for Training elementFurther/higher education candidates must supply evidence of:• letter from college or university confirming participation in course of study forperiod of 6 monthsFor vocational training award the following evidence must be provided:• an agreed employment action plan developed through a recognised IAG serviceplus verification of steps taken towards achievement of action plan targets• certificate or letter from a registered awarding body for the course or by arecognised training provider as evidence of gaining a recognised vocationalqualification or successfully completing accredited work-related training (over acontinuous period of at least 6 months)4. Ex Armed Service PersonnelApplicants who have served in the British Armed Forces and lived inHammersmith & Fulham for at least 6 months immediately prior to enlisting, willqualify for a community contribution award automatically, with the exception ofthose who have been dishonourably discharged. This includes people who haveserved in the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army.Service with the armed forces will be confirmed with the Royal British Legion.The Council intends to work with one or more housing organisations withexperience of ex-service personnel issues in order to develop criteria andmaximise housing options opportunities for ex service personnel.5. Registered Foster Carers and AdoptersWe recognise the contribution that Hammersmith & Fulham foster carers andadopters make towards ensuring that children in Hammersmith & Fulham’s carereceive a good service. In order to qualify for a community contribution awardunder this policy, applicants will require a letter from the council’s Children’sService confirming that they have been approved as a Hammersmith & Fulhamfoster carer and/or adopter and that they are in a position to take one or more36Page 419
