Building a Housing Ladder of Opportunity – Housing Allocation SchemeHowever, the Council will not make an allocation which causes statutoryovercrowding at the point of letting.Changes of Circumstances6.<strong>10</strong> Once placed in a priority band, applicants should notify the Council in writing ofany material change in their circumstances that will affect their priority forhousing , for example:• a change of address, for themselves or any other person on the application.• any additions to the family or any other person joining the application• any member of the family or any other person on the application who has leftthe accommodation.• any change in income and/or savings.• Any medical or mobility need which will affect the type of accommodationbeing offered deemed suitable6.11 Applications may be temporarily suspended while the Council assesses theinformation provided by the applicant and completes further enquiries that maybe necessary. The Council will carry out an assessment of each applicant’sentitlement to and priority for re-housing on the basis of information which hasbeen provided by the applicant or otherwise received in connection with theapplicant. Where the Council believes that information about the applicant’spersonal circumstances have been deliberately withheld or misleadinglypresented, then the Council will reserve the right to withdraw any offer ofaccommodation or not renew a tenancy where one has been granted.Members of the Council, Staff Members and their Relations6.12 In order to ensure that the Council is seen to be treating all applicants fairly, anyapplication for housing or re-housing from members of the Council, employees ofthe Council or associated persons must be disclosed. These applications will beassessed in the normal way but any allocation of housing will require specificapproval by the Director Housing Options, Skills and Economic Development.Equal Opportunities and Monitoring6.13 The Council is committed to the principle of equal opportunities in the delivery ofall its services. Applicants will be invited to indicate if they wish to make use ofthe Council’s translation and interpretation services, or if they require otherspecial services as a result of visual impairment, hearing difficulties or otherdisability.6.14 Confidential interview facilities are provided at all housing offices.
