There has been a particularfocus on reducing the length of time children are subject of plans.• There has been a focus on ensuring that core groups are effective in coordinating the safeguarding work between childprotection planning meetings. This ensures that barriers to removal are addressed.• The Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Unit (SQA) and Family Support and Child Protection service (FSCP) havepromoted a number of initiatives including training around core groups and clarifying expectations of core groupparticipants.• A multi agency panel has reviewed long term cases (over12 months). This builds on collaboration involving CP chairsand Team managers- 50 -
• In order to reduce length of time children are subject of plans the CP Plans have needed to be SMART and focus onoutcomes. The CP conference summary needs to include original reasons for concern and with focus on risk.• There has been challenge from chairs with agencies where there are problems in attendance or in providing reports forconferences.
