Thecouncil should encourage local residents to maintain and increase thepermeability of back gardens by providing advice and guidance, particularly inthose areas most at risk of surface water flooding.Financial & Resource ImplicationsThere are no resources or financial implications of this recommendation.Recommendation Twenty: Flooding IncidentsIt is recommended that, when the Council is alerted to a flooding incident inthe borough they should attempt to make direct contact with those affectedand advise them of the possible sustainable drainage systems (SUDs)available to them. They should follow up with these residents after a six monthperiod to see what steps they have taken to mitigate future flooding problems.Financial & Resource ImplicationsThis recommendation will need to tie in with the Council’s policy on investigatingflooding.
