This should include agreeing the criteria for referral to ThamesWater for consultation on specific applications that warrant a surface waterflooding perspective. Additionally both the Council and Thames Water, ifmaking representations, should take into account the interlinking nature oftheir respective flooding roles and make any representations they see fit inthis light.Financial & Resource ImplicationsThere are no resources or financial implications of this recommendation.Recommendation Sixteen: Flooding InsuranceIt is recommended that the Council make a representation to the Departmentfor Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) stating that the insuranceindustry should take greater account of any sustainable drainage systems(SUDs) or other property protection measures incorporated into a propertywhen calculating its insurance premium.Financial & Resource ImplicationsThere are no resources or financial implications of this recommendation.Recommendation Seventeen: A Flood FairIt is recommended that the Council hold a Flood Fair. The aim of the Flood Fairshould be to collect historical information on flooding incidents, increaseawareness of flooding risks and clarify responsibilities between theresponsible flooding parties. Other stakeholders, such as Thames Water, theEnvironment Agency, the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs(DEFRA), and companies that provide sustainable drainage systems (SUDS)and other flooding prevention systems should be invited along. All residentsthat the Council is aware have suffered from flooding in the past should be- 8 -Page 167
