The developer will maintain access through the Market by maintaining openpedestrian routes capable of accommodation pushchairs and buggies.In the completed scheme the Market lane will be widened to provide permanent fullaccess for prams and buggies, replacing the current arrangement where somewalkway widths are insufficiently wide to accommodate such movements,particularly during busy periods.It is identified that the market provides for a level of social interaction for differentage groups particularly those with small children. In the short time, the constructionwork will have a negative impact on this group which cannot be mitigated althoughin the longer term increased public space will enhance this interaction.H -Page 137RaceThe publicThe census information shows that there are a lower number of white people in theward (70.4% as against 77.8% in the Borough). The level of all other ethnic groupsother than Chinese is higher in the ward than the Borough (33% for the ward against23.5% for the Borough).It is identified that the developer will provide, where requested or likely to beneeded, all information materials translated into relevant community languages andthat they make interpreters available if required.H+BroadwayThe relocation or potential loss of the supported accommodation and servicesprovided by Broadway will have a negative impact upon both the users of the centreand the wider community who fall into all race groups. Relocation would be likely tohave a short-term negative impact but the aim of reprovision in a different location isto mitigate for this and to cause as little disruption as possible. Details are given inthe Cabinet Report at 1.4.1 b), c) and e). Should it not be possible to relocate thehostel, this service will be lost to the area.H-Business ownersIt is identified that there are a high number of ethnic minority business owners andworkers who would be affected.
