Your risks, our solutions for environmentalconsultantsWith today’s tight business deadlines and operating margins, you face increasing time and costpressures from clients. For example:Time ran out but the contamination didn’t: A large home retailer was buying numerous sitesfor new store locations. An environmental consultant was hired to perform Phase I evaluations onall of the sites. Due to internal personnel changes, the report was sent over without completing thelast site’s evaluation, where several old underground storage tanks containing hydraulic fluid werediscovered.Clean up cost liabilities for the consultant: $1 million plusClient cuts corners to save costs: A developer needed to perform a Phase II assessment after anearlier Phase I assessment had identified several areas of concern. The environmental consultantrecommended a total of 50 borings with several samples per boring. Due to the cost, the developerrequested the consultant to cut the borings in half. A heavy oil contaminant in the ground was notfound until development began. Litigation and clean-up cost liabilities for the consultant: $1 million. In these types of scenarios, professional liability coverage may not be enough.Zurich delivers when it mattersTo help provide you with the seamless coverage you need, Zurich developed the ProfessionalEnvironmental Consultant’s Liability Policy. This policy combines elements of Errors andOmissions coverage (E&O) with Contractor’s Pollution Liability. This policy is particularly suitedfor the risk needs of:• Environmental engineers and consultants• Industrial hygienists and indoor air quality consultants• Environmental laboratories• Environmental contractors with in-house engineering/consulting capabilitiesZurich also offers the financial strength you need in today’s challenging environment. Zurich FinancialServices Group has a conservative, well-diversified portfolio of Group investments of roughly $180billion (as of December 31, 2008). Our investment strategy has been to manage assets to liabilitiesrather than maximizing return on assets. This conservative approach puts us in a good position toweather the current market turmoil.
