This is work that is done via internalsettings at each area alarm panel.22 61 00 Compressed-Air Systems for Laboratory <strong>and</strong> Healthcare Facilities1. Medical Air Compressorsa. Install duplex medical air compressors for each new addition or where medical aircapacity expansion is required.b. All compressors shall meet current NFPA guidelines for medical air compressors.c. Medical air compressors shall be manufactured by Kolbelco, Ingersoll-R<strong>and</strong> orQuincy.d. All medical air compressors shall be <strong>of</strong> the liquid-cooled rotary screw type withinternal sound dampening on its enclosure.e. Do not locate any medical air compressors immediately above, below or near anynoise sensitive areas.f. Install all medical air compressors <strong>and</strong> their controls on emergency power which isfed via automatic transfer switches. The compressors shall be fed from separateelectrical load centers.g. Install dual source cooling to each water-cooled air compressor. The primary sourceshall be the building-wide chilled water system <strong>and</strong> the back-up source shall be thedomestic cold water system.h. Install cross-tie piping to other existing medical air compressors to create additionalredundancy.i. Install the outside air intakes for medical air compressors from either the ro<strong>of</strong> or otherlocation approved by NFPA 99.42
