Natural <strong>Hazard</strong>s <strong>Mitigation</strong> PlanCity <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glendale</strong>, <strong>California</strong>Section 8 – FloodsLong Term – Flood #l:Action Item: Enhance data and mapping for floodplain information within the county, andidentify and map flood-prone areas outside <strong>of</strong> designated floodplains.Ideas for Implementation:♦ Apply for FEMA's cooperative technical partnership using the 2-foot contour intervalfloodplain mapping data acquired by the City <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glendale</strong> GIS.♦ Use WES inventory and mapping data to update the flood-loss estimates for the city <strong>of</strong><strong>Glendale</strong>.♦ Encourage the development <strong>of</strong> floodplain maps for all local streams not currentlymapped on Flood Insurance Rate Maps or county maps, with special attention focusedon mapping rural and unincorporated areas. The maps should show the expectedfrequency <strong>of</strong> flooding, the level <strong>of</strong> flooding, and the areas subject to inundation.
