Natural <strong>Hazard</strong>s <strong>Mitigation</strong> PlanCity <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glendale</strong>, <strong>California</strong>Section 7 – WildfiresWildfire Resource DirectoryLocal Resources:<strong>Glendale</strong> Fire Department: The <strong>Glendale</strong> Fire Department is responsible for fire suppressionon all private lands within the city <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glendale</strong>. The <strong>Glendale</strong> Fire Department constantlymonitors the fire hazard in the city and has ongoing programs for investigation and alleviation<strong>of</strong> hazardous situations. Fire fighting resources in the immediate <strong>Glendale</strong> area are provided by<strong>Glendale</strong> Fire Department Station Nos. 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29. [Fire Stations 26and 29 are no longer adequate for the Fire Department’s needs due to the buildings’ age,physical condition and size. Efforts are ongoing to find adequate alternative locations for thesetwo stations. The preferred alternatives are expected to be located south <strong>of</strong> the 134 Freeway. ]The Fire Department is comprised <strong>of</strong> 12 fire companies with nine engine companies and threetruck companies. The Department also staffs four rescue ambulances. These data aresummarized by fire station on Table 7.4 below. These agreements obligate the departments tohelp each other under pre-defined circumstances. Automatic aid agreements obligate thenearest fire company to respond to a fire regardless <strong>of</strong> the jurisdiction.
