This is anticipated to reduce the number ofcasualties significantly. The numbers show that by retrofitting its URMs, Glendale has alreadyreduced significantly its vulnerability to seismic shaking.Significantly, reinforced masonry, concrete and steel structures are not expected to performwell, with hundreds of these buildings in Glendale experiencing at least moderate damageduring an earthquake on the Sierra Madre or Verdugo faults.
