COURSE ENQUIRIESYou can contact the <strong>College</strong> directly todiscuss what courses are available. You cando this by telephone (0113 386 1997) oryou can come along to any of the maincampus sites to sit down and talk throughyour ideas with a member of staff.FEES & FUNDINGCourses are normally free for students onfull-time programmes who are aged 18 orunder on 31st August of the year you areenrolling, although there may be somecourse-specific charges, e.g. for a CRB checkwhere applicable (£44) or for equipmentyou may need to buy, e.g. scissors for ahairdressing course.Tuition fees are also likely to be free foradults over 19 who:• Are in receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowanceor Employment Support Allowance in thework related activity group.• Are unemployed and in receipt of IncomeSupport or Incapacity Benefit.• Are unwaged dependants of those inreceipt of Income Support, IncapacityBenefit or Working Tax Credit.• Are undertaking their first full Level 2course (all ages over 19).• Are undertaking their first Level 3 course(aged 19 to 24 only).• Are undertaking an Adult Basic Skillscourse (literacy or numeracy).• Are enrolling on GCSE English or Maths,who do not have a grade C or above(age 19 to 24).This applies to UK / European EconomicArea residents only. Exam and other feesmay be payable.Most other students aged 19 or overwill pay some fees, depending on theircircumstances. Fees are payable onenrolment; fees of £100 or more can bepaid over up to 5 installments, with 25%payable at enrolment.All full time students are expected to payfor any course books, equipment, materials,exam re-sits or CRB checks needed aspart of their studies. Some courses mayalso require the purchase of uniforms forpractical work.FEES & FUNDING: DiscretionaryLearner Support FundsStudents who are experiencing financialdifficulties can apply to the <strong>College</strong>’sDiscretionary Learner Support Fund andmay get help with items such as travel,books, materials, equipment or childcare.You can get advice from any of our CampusHelp Zones. We will need to carry out anassessment of your household income toconfirm whether you are eligible.FEES & FUNDING: 16 – 18 BursariesThis is a Government scheme whichreplaced EMA in September 2011. Studentsin ‘vulnerable groups’ (young people incare, care leavers, young people in receiptof income support living independentlyand disabled young people receiving bothEmployment Support Allowance andDisability Living Allowance) will receive aguaranteed bursary of at least £1,200 peryear via the <strong>College</strong> instead of EMA.leedscitycollege.ac.uk | course.enquiry@leedscitycollege.ac.uk | 0113 386 1997 19
