Project Summary• Building approximately 20,000 square feet, over12,000 sf of exhibit areas• Completed building renovation construction in June2011• Completed construction cost including change orders- $7,930,000 (without exhibits)• Began exhibit construction in July 2012 with expectedcompletion in April 2013 (Earth Day). Awardedconstruction cost $3.4M

Lessons Learned – Challenges•Renovating existing Building – bringing up to code, parking requirements, leaks. Recommend discoveryphase first to flush out issues.•Ensure building message aligns with Department goals.Engage all stakeholders early. They will have input.•Pushing limits to achieve LEED Gold required takingsome risks such as chilled beam system, first for City•Pre-qualify or require a contractor that has previous LEEDexperience. Also have designated LEED personnel onteam.
