<strong>Job</strong> <strong>Description</strong><strong>Job</strong> Title:Classification:Department:Reports to:DC Kids Cafe CoordinatorExempt<strong>Food</strong> For Kids<strong>Food</strong> For Kids Manager<strong>Job</strong> Summary:The DC Kids Cafe Coordinator serves as the program coordinator for the Kids Cafe® siteslocated in Washington, DC. The Coordinator must be well organized, flexible and able towork well independently as well as with the team. Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills, strong decision making ability, creative thinking, and initiative areequally important.Major Responsibilities/Activities:Administrative Collect weekly meal count and attendance records, maintain the files, and enterdata as needed; Administer the CACFP and SFSP program in DC, including submitting monthlyclaims and an annual renewal application; Maintain up-to-date records and reports needed to run the program smoothly; Train and oversee short-term and long-term volunteers as assigned; Participate in regular team meetings; Contribute to newsletters and the CAFB Blog and other CAFB social mediaoutlets; Act as the primary liaison between the food vendor and DC Kids Cafe sitesensuring accurate meal service;Warehouse / Operations Oversee the part-time warehouse assistants; Pack emergency food boxes with volunteersCommunity Complete three monitoring visits per site per year; Assist with the development of trainings and provide trainings for site leaders; Organize and attend special events at Kids Cafe sites and participate in CAFBspecial events;1


Along with the <strong>Food</strong> For Kids Manager administer the Summer <strong>Food</strong> ServiceProgram;Collaborate with local hunger advocacy groups on relevant issues.Minimum Requirements:4 year college degree or equivalent work experience1-3 years of work experienceExperience with federal nutrition programs preferredKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:Exhibits excellent communications skills, both verbal and written in addition toexcellent listening skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize andmanage multiple tasksDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software to include: Word, Excel,Power Point and Outlook programs, as well as expertise in utilizing the InternetAbility to work professionally with a diverse constituent baseMust present a professional appearance and demeanorKnowledge of the Washington, DC metro area and the ability to read mapsExperience in working with small groups a plusCommitment to the mission of the CAFBEssential Physical Functions:Physical activities involve sitting for up to 80% of the work day.Work Environment:Work takes place in the office, warehouse, and communityRegular hours Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; extended hours whennecessary for site visits and special events.EOEwww.capitalareafoodbank.orgNote: Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign orreassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.2
