H-MOSS ® Occupancy SensorsEnergy Savings and CodesASHRAE/IESNA 90.1 StandardAmong the requirements in this standard isthat a building of 5,000 square feet or more,except for lighting operated 24 hours perday, must incorporate automatic controldevices to turn off all lighting.Some of the key provisions are:Multi-level lighting controlAny enclosed space 100 square feet or largerwhich has a connected lighting load thatexceeds 0.8 watts per square foot and hasmore than one light source (luminaire) shall becontrolled so that the load for lights may bereduced by a minimum of 50%.Area controlsEach area enclosed by ceiling heightpartitions must have an independentswitching or control device—occupancysensor or manual switch.Automatic shut-off controlsFor every floor, all indoor lighting must havea separate automatic control, capable ofautomatically shutting off the lighting.Residential buildingsIn 2005, Title 24 simplified and expandedthe standard to include use of high efficacyluminaires, manual-on occupancy sensors,fluorescent lights or dimmers in most roomsof the home such as bedrooms, bathroom,garage, living room, hallway, and utility room.<strong>Hubbell</strong> offers many models of occupancy,vacancy and dimmers (all CEC Title 24compliant) that will enable builders,contractors and homeowners to meet thesenew requirements.IECC 2003 Lighting Control ProvisionThe International Energy Conservations Code (IECC) whichhas been adopted by some states, affects new construction,additions and alterations for all commercial buildings,including residential structures with four or more storiesabove grade.
