Traditionally our insurance isbased upon our Club Rules, but as the languageused is often better suited to the commercial vesselswe insure, we have crafted a plain language policyspecifically for the yacht market. The Shipowners' ClubThe protection we provideWe will respond to all marine liability claims made against you,other than a small number of clearly identified exclusions.CrewWe cover your liability for risks such ascrew illness, injury or death, as well asresultant medical costs. We also cover crewwages whilst a crew member is undergoingmedical or hospital treatment and coveryour liability to pay compensation to crewmembers as a result of the total loss ofyour yacht. Pre-delivery and post-deliverycrew liability risks can also be insured.GuestsWe cover your liabilities towards yourguests, including whilst guests are swimmingor snorkelling. If the yacht has equipmentfor more adventurous water sports, coverextends to include scuba diving and watersports liabilities, including jet skiing.CharteringIf you make your yacht available for crewedcharter our policy will cover liabilities arisingwhilst it is under charter.Charterers and their guestsWhere liabilities attach to you or youryacht as a result of the acts of yourcharterers or their guests, we will defendand assist you and cover any liability thatattaches to you in the first instance.Yacht racingIf your yacht is a sailing vessel you are automaticallycovered for racing. This includes casual racing aswell as those races organised by a yacht club, sailingassociation or internationally recognised sailingfederation. However, if you are the owner of ayacht whose principal purpose is competitive racingor you undertake any form of professional oceanracing, you need to talk to us in advance. We canthen decide upon the specialist cover required.Repair and maintenance workCover remains in force whilst your yachtis undergoing repair or refit. There is norequirement to advise us in advance of hot work.TendersOur insurance extends to include tenders and anyother craft that are carried on board your yacht.Contractual liabilitiesWe will cover you for any contractualindemnities which you are required to acceptunder a club, marina, boatyard or supplier'sstandard terms and conditions. We will alsoagree to waive rights of subrogation if requiredby those standard terms and conditions.Worldwide coverThere are no territorial limits to our new yachtliability policy. When sailing further afield, wewill cover you for liabilities arising from actsof piracy. We can also insure you for war andterrorism risks from the ground up, meaning itis no longer necessary to buy a separate policyfor these risks. That said, our ultimate aim is to payclaims without delay, if you are found liable.PaperworkThe Club routinely provides confirmationpaperwork if requested. This includes Greek,Spanish and Italian liability certificates,as well as Bunker Blue Cards.Fixed premiumThe premium payable for our new policy isfixed at the beginning of each year and unlesswe are asked to amend the insurance coverprovided, owners will not be asked to pay anyadditional premiums or supplementary calls.Additional coversWe can also provide Crew Personal AccidentInsurance as well as Legal Assistance andDefence Cover.High service standardsWe pride ourselves on the quality of ourcustomer service.
