(a) Killing members <strong>of</strong> the group;(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members <strong>of</strong> the group;(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group requirements <strong>of</strong> life calculated to bring aboutits physical destruction in whole or in part;(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;(e) Forcibly transferring children <strong>of</strong> the group to another group.’397. The ICJ established in its Decision <strong>of</strong> 26 February 2007 that genocide was committed inSrebrenica (see, legal consi<strong>der</strong>ation 278 et seq., together with the conclusion un<strong>der</strong> legalconsi<strong>der</strong>ation 297):‘The Court concludes that the acts committed at Srebrenica falling within Article II (a)and (b) <strong>of</strong> the Convention were committed with the specific intent to destroy in part thegroup <strong>of</strong> the Muslims <strong>of</strong> Bosnia and Herzegovina as such; and accordingly that thesewere acts <strong>of</strong> genocide, committed by members <strong>of</strong> the VRS in and around Srebrenicafrom about 13 July 1995.’398. Article I <strong>of</strong> the Genocide Convention obliges the States Parties to prevent genocide:‘the Contracting Parties confirm that genocide, whether committed in time <strong>of</strong> peace orin time <strong>of</strong> war, is a crime un<strong>der</strong> international law which they un<strong>der</strong>take to prevent andto punish.’399. The ICJ established in its Decision <strong>of</strong> 26 February 2007 that the prevention <strong>of</strong> genocidewithin the meaning <strong>of</strong> Article 1 <strong>of</strong> the Genocide Convention is an autonomous directobligation and not a preamble to the other obligations contained in the GenocideConvention.
