BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITIONResponsible for supporting the management of Telecommunication and Radio (Wired and WirelessCommunications) Network for the U.s. Mission in New Delhi including four constituent posts atChennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad under the guidance and direction from InformationManagement Officer.Manage the proper operation and maintenance of the complex telephone systems at theEmbassy, American Center, DCM’s residence and at the four constituent posts.Provide support to the Secretary of State’s Special Communications team of SECSTATE visitfor their telecommunication and radio requirements.Provide support to the communication team to establish communication lines for PresidentVisit and also for other VIP visits or conferences held in New Delhi.Conduct training classes and provide “hand-on” environment to all Embassy end-users on theirtelephone sets including Voice Main and other PBX features in a fully operations mode.Conduct on-call system orientation and training to the four constituent consulates and posts inthe neighboring countries.Provide hands on Radio training to the American Officers and generate call-sign.Programming of phones, assign features and configurations of all analog and digital phones;perform adds, move, change and deletion of phones. Manage wireless communication network which consists of complex HF, UHF,handheld/Mole/Base station radios, along with associated HF/UHF antennas and ancillaryequipment.Monitor one 34Mbps fiber optomux and one STM optomux from MTNL, installed at the demarkroom with redundant fiber-optic connectivity between meridian option 81C PBX and Centraloffice exchange.Maintain an accurate database of Main Distribution Frame (MDF) wiring and cable records inelectronic spreadsheets using MS Excel. Conduct detailed inventory of all telephoneapparatus, communication equipments, spare parts, tools and installation materials.A copy of the complete position description listing all duties and responsibilities is available inthe Human Resources Office.QUALIFICATIONS <strong>RE</strong>QUI<strong>RE</strong>DAll applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific andcomprehensive information supporting each item.1. Three year diploma in Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering.2. Minimum three years of experience in the field of telecommunications.3. Level IV (fluency) in English and level III (Good working knowledge) in Hindi.4. Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art telecom switching, transmission, terminalequipment, test equipment, power systems, structured cabling system employing copperand optical fiber cables and computer systems.5. Ability to plan and co-ordinate major or minor installations and repairs using circuitdiagrams and technical manuals of systems and equipment.6. The ability to use personal computer databases and packages, software packages suchas MS-Word, EXCEL, e-mail, and CD-ROM applications.
