Theseawards recognise outstanding citizens andorganisations in our community who have giventheir time and expertise for the benefit of others.The individual or organisation must be worthyof recognition for their commitment to the Cityof Wollongong.There are many unsung heroes in our community.People who consistently volunteer; join communityinitiatives; or strive to improve services andfacilities in our community. And let’s not forget ouryoung leaders of tomorrow - these are the peopleto be encouraged to nominate.Their achievements must be current andnominees must live in the City of Wollongong andbe an Australian citizen to be eligible.All those nominated for an award will be requiredto attend the Australia Day Awards presentationdinner to be held on Thursday 20 January 2011where they will be acknowledged and the winnersannounced.To encourage more nominations in eachcategory, Council has included monetaryincentives which will go to the winner’s preferredcharity.
