If the sampling alarm is turned on, when each sampling interval is reached,an audible alarm will sound, a warning window will display momentarily, and the "Timer Alert"will illuminate.When the test is complete, the system checks for an infinity test. If an infinity test is selectedin the protocol, the infinity test is performed.When the protocol is complete, the drive motor is stopped automatically. Temperature controlremains on, unless "Heater Shutdown" was selected in the System Configuration Menu.5.25 Starting the Manual Timer1. Press [SET TEMPERATURE], and input the desired temperature. Wait untilvessel temperature is within the required tolerance of the set temperature.2. Press [SET SPEED], and input the desired drive speed. This step may bedelayed until the start of the timer, if so desired.3. When ready to start the manual test, press [CLOCK].4. Select option [6] “Start Timer”, and the Manual Timer Setup Screen appears.5. Select an automatic print interval. Either OFF, 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes can be selected.Make sure that the printer is on-line and has enough paper.6. When ready to start the timer, press [CLOCK]. The test will run uninterrupted.7. SR8-Plus Operation Manual73-100-810-I5.26 System Shutdown and Start UpWhen a protocol is complete, the drive motor is stopped automatically and temperaturecontrol remains on the waterbath. This allows the waterbath to remain at a constanttemperature, so the system is ready to start the next test.If the dissolution test will not be completed until everyone has gone home for the day, theuser can have the heater turn off automatically at the end of the test by selecting "HeaterShutdown" on the Preferences screen.The user can program the heater to turn on at a designated time so that the waterbath isequilibrated to the desired temperature when the user is ready to start testing. (see 5.18Timer/Alarm Operation: Preheat Wakeup Time)5.27 Stand By ModeThe user can place the system in the stand by mode by pressing[STOP]. Pressingany key brings the system out of the stand by mode. When the system is in stand by, themotor is turned off, the heater is turned off, and the display is darkened. Placing the systemin stand by when not in use will increase the life of the motor components, heater anddisplay.Section 5 Operation and Programming – 44 –
