Using the Manual Timer has the following advantages:1. A quick test can be run without programming any protocol parameters;2. Speed and temperature parameters can be changed at any time during the test and canbe performed by either a manager or user;3. The user retains the use of an elapsed timer and automatic print intervals.5.24 Starting a ProtocolThe SR8-Plus is designed to perform dissolution tests using a set of parameters stored in aprotocol.1. Press [RUN]. The Select Protocol screen is displayed. (see Figure 5-8)Figure 5-8: Select Protocol Screen2. Highlight the desired protocol or enter the protocol number and press [ENTER]. TheHeader screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-9. Select the number of the title towhich you wish to add a label. Enter, or select from the scroll, the label informationrequired. Use the arrow keys to move to the next page of Header information, and press[ENTER] when done. SR8-Plus Operation Manual73-100-810-IThe system is now in the setup mode. The system adjusts temperature as determined by theprotocol. The bath temperature can be monitored on the Status screen; notice that the probenumber is displayed adjacent to the temperature. Press [1] or [2] to display the temperaturefrom that temperature probe, if installed.3. Press [→] to display the Set Point screen, as shown.Figure 5-10: Set Point ScreenThe Set Point screen displays the target speed and allowed tolerance, the target temperatureand allowed tolerance, the timing interval for Auto Print, and the time and speed for theinfinity test. The Set Point screen also indicates which of the alarms has been set.If any parameter is incorrect, press[STOP] and again [STOP] to abort test. Correctparameter(s) and run protocol. (see Step 1)4. Press [→] to display the Header screen, as shown.Figure 5-11: Header Screen5. This header information, along with the two lines input for company and department, isprinted with the protocol parameters at the start of the test.6. Press [→] to display the Status screen. When the temperature is within tolerance, apop-up screen appears displaying “Drop Dosage and Press [RUN] “ to start test. If theUSP tolerance has been set to on and Digital Temperature Probes are used, all vesseltemperatures must be within tolerance before the test can be started. The E-Probes willautomatically drop the Digital Temperature Probes into the vessel to check eachvessel’s temperature.Section 5 Operation and Programming – 42 –
