<strong>SR8</strong>-Plus Operation <strong>Manual</strong>73-100-810-IRS-232 SetupPress [5] to select and view the “RS232 Setup” screen.The RS232 parameters are the following:1. Baud Rate— Determines the transmission/reception speed of data between the <strong>SR8</strong>-Plus and the external computer. The available baud rates are 1200, 2400, 4800 and9600 ∗ .2. Data Bits— An integer indicating the number of data bits to be used in transmitting eachsingle character. The available options are 7 or 8 ∗ characters.3. Parity— Indicates the type of parity checking that is used during communications. Theavailable options are ODD, EVEN and NONE ∗ .4. Command Echo— When this parameter is ON ∗ , the <strong>SR8</strong>-Plus returns (or echoes back)the System ID of the unit (truncated to 6 characters) followed by the command numberonce it is successfully implemented. When the parameter is OFF, no response is sentback to the external device whether command implementation was successful or not.NOTE: The parameters selected here are for external computer handshakes and do notaffect <strong>SR8</strong> Plus communications with the system printer which always remain at thefactory default settings ∗ of 9600 (Baud Rate), None (Parity), 8 (Data Bits), 1 (StopBits) and On (Command Echo).E-Probe SetupThe E-Probe Setup allows the user to operate the probes. If it has not been selected fromthe accessories screen, it will not show up in the System Configuration screen. Pressing [1]will home the probes. Always make sure to select the correct stroke value. Press the up ordown arrows to check probe operation and to make probe adjustments.Section 5 Operation and Programming – 34 –
