SR8-Plus Operation Manual73-100-810-I4 Installation4.1 LocationEnvironmental RequirementsThe waterbath temperature must exceed ambient temperature by at least 5°C for maximumperformance of the waterbath control system. Therefore, for the best results the ambienttemperature should not be allowed to exceed 31°C (88°F) for the 37°C tests, or 26°C (79°F)for 32°C tests.A stable ambient room temperature is required. The system should not be placed close to anopen window, an uninsulated window, or a heating radiator, which would cause temperaturefluctuations of more than 2°C per hour. Relative humidity should be 85% or less.Easy access to a water source and waste disposal for filling and emptying the waterbath isconvenient, although not necessary.Dissolution rates are profoundly affected by vibration. Therefore, the system should not beplaced near a centrifuge, fan, compressor or any other source of vibration. The room shouldnot be subject to vibration from adjacent production equipment, such as single head tabletmachines.Space RequirementsThe SR8-Plus Dissolution Test Station is designed to be placed on a standard laboratorybench that is at least 60cm (24 inches) deep. The system is 76cm (30 inches) wide andrequires access to the back on both sides. The laboratory bench should be level and flat, although the system has adjustments for self-leveling. The laboratory bench must also becapable of supporting the weight of the Dissolution Test Station, including the water in thewaterbath and media in the vessels. This weight is 108kg (238lbs).Electrical RequirementsThe SR8-Plus Dissolution Test Station requires a single, grounded electrical outlet, within 2.5meters (8 feet) of the location of the system. The system has two outlets on its side panel, providing a power source for the circulating water pump and the optional printer. The system is available in two configurations, 115V and 230V. The voltages are set at thefactory and cannot be changed (see model number label on back of control to determinevoltage requirements for that unit).Section 4 Installation – 7 –
