ENMORE PARK – PLAN OF MANAGEMENT8.4 ConsultationConsultation for the draft plan <strong>of</strong> management was coordinated separate <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Plan</strong>study team by KJA Consultants for Marrickville Council. This consultation wasundertaken as part <strong>of</strong> an integrated programme addressing proposed upgrades at<strong>Enmore</strong> and Petersham <strong>Park</strong>s, and aiming to respond to both park specific and generalopen space / recreational factors that need to be considered by Council.The community has also been involved in consultation regarding the detailed designand development application process for the Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centreredevelopment as well as the design <strong>of</strong> a new playspace and surrounds to the southeast corner <strong>of</strong> the park.As part <strong>of</strong> this programme a community open day was held at the park on Saturday the2 nd <strong>of</strong> December 2006 from 10am to 12 noon. A particular focus <strong>of</strong> the open day and arelated community questionnaire was the redevelopment <strong>of</strong> the Annette Kellerman PoolComplex.Key responses to the questionnaire are listed following:• The most common uses <strong>of</strong> <strong>Enmore</strong> <strong>Park</strong> are:- Passive recreation (eg. barbeques, picnics, relaxation etc.)- Attending Council events (eg. Magic Yellow Bus, Australia Day)- Using open space- To enter / exit the swimming pool• The majority <strong>of</strong> those surveyed use the park weekly, with a high number alsoindicating they use the park daily• Walking is the most popular method <strong>of</strong> travelling to the park• 77% <strong>of</strong> those surveyed indicated that development <strong>of</strong> the Annette KellermanAquatic Centre would make them use the park more frequently• It was widely felt that the physical relationship between the park and pool shouldbe more integratedIn addition to the above community consultation was undertaken during 2008 and 2009for the following:Annette Kellerman Aquatic CentreDevelopment Application exhibition and comments processPlayspace Design developmentCommunity open day and consultation period was provided to seek comments onpotential playspace improvements. Comments were considered along with Councilsbudgetary and maintenance constraints in the finalisation <strong>of</strong> design by Council.The draft plan <strong>of</strong> management will also be subject to public exhibition in accordancewith Crown <strong>Land</strong>s <strong>Management</strong> requirements prior to submission for approval by theMinister.Environmental Partnership 88October 2012
