8.0 RELEVANT BACKGROUND INFORMATIONThe pool concourse will be a specialised epoxy brushed concrete surface withappropriate slip resistance. Overall, the finishes within the interior will be contemporaryand appropriately selected for longevity in order to minimise ongoing costs associatedwith maintenance. Each pool will be fully tiled with ramps to the learn-to-swim and 50mpools to ensure equitable access for all.It is proposed the exterior colours <strong>of</strong> the building will be selected from a neutral palette<strong>of</strong> silver and greys with highlights <strong>of</strong> the terracotta material with the incorporation <strong>of</strong>selected natural finished timbers. It is anticipated that the main internal walls facing ontothe pool concourse will incorporate feature colour panels and finishes. Acoustic ceilingpanels, made from “extenzo”, a flexible and durable acrylic sheet, will form part <strong>of</strong> anarticulated ceiling within the building.As part <strong>of</strong> the integration <strong>of</strong> the new Aquatic Centre with the park, an accessible terracefacing onto <strong>Enmore</strong> <strong>Park</strong> will be provided for the cafe and aquatic centre. The section <strong>of</strong>paved outdoor terrace for the aquatic centre will be delineated by a transparent glassfence and balustrade, reinforcing the connection between the park and the new aquaticcentre.83 Marrickville CouncilOctober 2012
