It is likely it was locatedin Enmore Park because of itsproximity to the nearby BethesdaHome for young country womencoming to live in Sydney for thefirst time.Rating: LowThis item has some socialsignificance, but not directlyassociated with the Park. Itsproximity to the BethesdaHome/Hostel and availability ofspace in the Park wasapparently the justification forits presence here.Whether its continuingpresence in the Park is stillregarded as important and/orappropriate would be a matterto be determined throughcareful community consultation.It is noted that the mounddistorts the southern boundaryof the Park and limitspedestrian movement along it.30. Northern stone edged gardenbedsA circular bed appears to havebeen in this location for manydecades, although its plantingshave frequently changed. Thestone edging is indicative of thatused in earlier periods.Rating: LowIt is worth retaining this featurenot only for its long-standingpresence but because itprovides some focal interest inan otherwise uninteresting,plain space.31.
