14 COMPARATIVE STUDIES14.1 KEY FINDINGS14.1.1. The purpose of conducting this comparative study, which included both developed <strong>and</strong> developing countries,was to enable the CRC to identify opportunities <strong>and</strong> threats that could assist in enhancing the effectiveness ofthe royalty collections <strong>and</strong> distributions processes.14.1.2. Brazil, France, India, Norway, Senegal, Switzerl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> the UK were selected for the comparative study.14.1.3. As part of data-gathering process, the following activities were carried out: Interviews with key role players (relevant government officials, members of the senior management of thecollecting societies or agencies, representatives of the recording entities, trade union officials <strong>and</strong> otherinterested parties); <strong>Review</strong> of the copyright legislation for the respective countries; <strong>Review</strong> of the recent annual reports <strong>and</strong> annual financial statements (for 2010 <strong>and</strong> 2009) for the relevantcollecting societies; <strong>Review</strong> the tariffs; <strong>and</strong> <strong>Review</strong> the relevant publications in this area.14.1.4.
