She moved toHylton HS from Forest Park, where shetaught Language Arts for five years. Shehas taught English 9, 10, 11, and 12, as wellas Creative Writing. Kristi was born inDallas, Texas, but had the wonderful fortuneof growing up overseas, living in Holland,London, and Switzerland. She attendedNorthwestern University where she receivedher Bachelor’s degree in English Literatureand Master’s degree in Journalism. Kristi isthe proud Mommy of Dennis (age 3) andJohn (age 1) and the wife of Dennis, whoworks with the PWC Police Department.When she’s not in school (grading papers orplanning), Kristi spends time with herfamily, and enjoys reading, writing, running,and traveling.1. Be Honest- Tell the truth about yourfeelings.7. Don’t Leave- Abandonment can bepainful and can cause tremendous emotionalinjury.8. Pray, Meditate- Don’t neglect yourspirituality. Thornton and Perreault(2002) described the alignment of datacollection and use with a cycle of schoolimprovement as follows:1. Develop a plan. What data will becollected? How will we improve the datasystem? What new instructional methods orprocedures will be developed? What is thecurrent baseline on critical measures? Whatstaff development is needed?2. Implement the plan. Are wesuccessfully implementing the plan? Howwell is the plan working? Are regularassessments conducted? Are we monitoringthe plan, collecting data, and providingfeedback?3. Analyze the results. Are teachersworking collaboratively? Are teachersexhibiting skills and confidence in dataanalysis? Are teachers accuratelydisaggregating data and havingperformance-based discussions.4. Take action. How can we improve thesystem?
