WELDING PARAMETERS:Preparation: Higher carbon steels up to 0.40% carbon should be preheated in the range of 350-500°F (177-260° C). NOTE:High-end carbon steels should use a butttering pass of XHD 6868 or similar product. When welding manganese steel castingsdirectly, or steels with a high hardenability, TeroMatec 688OA or 690OA offer an ideal cushion layer to further optimizethe wear resistance of 395N. DO NOT WELD DIRECTLY ON MANGANESE STEELS, WILL NOT BOND!NOTE: Higher preheats up to 600°F (315°C) will reduce microfissuring.Welding Technique: As indicated in the parameters, there are certain advantages in using either a “push” or “pull” methodduring welding. For most downhand welding the pull method is suggested with the wire positioned at a 70°-80° angle. Thiswill provide a clean, virtually spatter-free, high-crowned weld deposit. 395N can be utilized as an open arc wire requiringno shielding gas.TECHNICAL DATA:Operating Conditions:CURRENT VOLTAGE AMPERAGE STICK-OUT (MIG) STICK-OUT (OPEN ARC) PKG.
