FOCUS ON TEACHING AND STUDENTSCEP stresses individual contact between Fellows and their students asa change mechanism. Many students in the region are unfamiliar with askingquestions in class, having a professor provide official hours in which todiscusss and clarify issues, or writing an original paper. The personal andacademic guidance that CEP Fellows give their students better preparesthe student for life after university. EAST-EAST COOPERATIONCEP recognises the long-term strategic importance of increased communicationand cooperation among countries in the region. CEP now regularlysponsors conferences where Eastern Scholars from Central and EasternEurope meet their counterparts from Central Asia, the Caucasus andSiberia to exchange ideas about reform in higher education and their experience.
