Sergio opened his 2010 campaign still
struggling slightly with a hand injury he
sustained at the end of last season, however
you can be sure the enigmatic Spaniard will
be installed as one of the favourites each
time the majors come around this season.
Alvaro Quiros is another Spaniard with
huge potential and great expectations. The
27-year-old is the longest hitter on the
European Tour with an average drive of
314-yards.
He climbed to 24th in the World Rankings
following his impressive victory against a top
class field in the 2009 Qatar Masters and as a
result he qualified for all four majors last
season. He has got class in abundance.
Martin Kaymer, the rising 25-year-old
German star, is prepared to play through the
pain barrier this season with plates and
screws in his foot as he seeks to recapture
the consistency that took him to the top of the
European rankings last August before he
suffered four broken toes in a go-karting
accident. He made a winning start to the 2010
season in the Abu Dhabi Championship. He is
established in the World’s top-20 and a great
prospect going forward.
Rory McIlroy is golf’s hottest prospect. He
shows the same swagger and exuberance as
a young Ballesteros in the 1970’s and seems
destined to enjoy even greater success than
the mercurial Spaniard.
The precocious 20-year-old Holywood star
thrives on pressure and wasn’t fazed in the
slightest when he was installed amongst the
favourites on his debut at Augusta last year.
He soared from 39th to 9th in the World
Rankings in his first full season on tour and
14 top-10 finishes included a tie for 3rd in the
USPGA Championship. A phenomenal talent.
