Introduction1 IntroductionRobotWare is a family of software products from ABB Flexible Automation designedto make you more productive and lower your cost of owning and operating a robot.ABB Flexible Automation has invested many man-years into the development of theseproducts and they represent knowledge and experience based on several thousandrobot installations.Within the RobotWare family there are five classes of products:BaseWare OS - This is the operating system of the robot and constitutes the kernel ofthe RobotWare family. BaseWare OS provides all the necessary features forfundamental robot programming and operation. It is an inherent part of the robot butcan be provided separately for upgrading purposes.BaseWare Options - These products are options that run on top of BaseWare OS of therobot. They represent functionality for robot users that need additional functionality,for example run multitasking, transfer information from file to robot, communicatewith a PC, perform advanced motion tasks etc.ProcessWare - ProcessWare products are designed for specific process applicationslike welding, gluing and painting. They are primarily designed to improve the processresult and to simplify installation and programming of applications. These productsalso run on top of BaseWare OS.DeskWare - This is a set of Windows-based PC products for a wide range of uses like:creating robot programs, training people on how to use robots, keeping track of robotprograms and on-line documentation. The purpose is to lower the indirect cost ofowning a robot.FactoryWare - By combining the power of PCs with robots, the possibilities are almostunlimited. The FactoryWare products are intended to be used in PCs connected torobots, on the factory floor or in the office.
