System Installation with ContentServer 3000 Series IMPORTANT: You must allocate a dedicated IP address range for your MediaGrid Public VLAN, advertise it to all routers on your network, and know this range before configuring your MediaGrid system or switches. IMPORTANT: The Public VLAN should include MediaGrid devices ONLY. Adding non-MediaGrid devices to the Public VLAN may cause unpredictable problems with the MediaGrid system. Private VLANs Before installing your MediaGrid system, you must also allocate IP address ranges for two Private VLANs. The Private VLANs are private IP subnets that create redundant paths between the ContentDirectors, allowing them to communicate information and keeping them synchronized. Make sure each Private VLAN is accessible by both ContentDirectors, and isolated from the other Private VLAN. See Figure 1 for an example. 14 Installation and Configuration Guide
