Chapter 8: InfrastructureOBJECTIVEServicing oflands to thenorth of theGaurranStream…ObjectiveWWO1: The lands to the north of the Gaurran stream are currentlyunserviced. The development of these lands will require the provisionof a new sewer along the northern banks of the stream and upgradingof the sewer along the Glen Road. The development of this overall areawhich is the subject of a Master Plan will be dependant on a publicprivate-partnershipapproach to infrastructure provision in the area.8.4 SURFACE WATER, DRAINAGE SYSTEMS AND FLOODCONTROLThe Garruan stream has a limited capacity to cater for additional surface waterrun off from adjoining lands. Any additional development north of the Garraunstream will have to be served by this water course. However prior to any furtherdevelopment in the catchement of the Gaurran stream a review of the 2001Flood studies report will have to be commissioned to examine the flooding issueand the viable solutions and mitigation measures that may need to beimplemented. Any attenuation measures should be specifically modelled as partof the catchment assessment and the success of such measures should beindicated. The report should include an interactive model so that all developmentproposals can effectively be checked prior to permission to ensure they do notaggravate flooding.
