Chapter 5: Community & Social Development5.1.4 Public Open SpaceCurrently there are limited areas of public openspace in Tramore within existing housingdevelopment. Given the projected increase inpopulation there is a need to address this issue.The Council is committed to the redevelopmentof the boating lake area into a town park overthe life time of this Plan. This proposed townpark shall provide an excellent amenity areaaround the boating lake that can be integratedinto existing developments thorough theprovision of pedestrian linkages and secure andsafe walking routes. This will provide a publicarea that people can enjoy and can also be usedfor sporting /cultural uses.Children’s playgroundTramoreOBJECTIVETown ParkObjectiveOSO1: The Council are committed to the redevelopment of the Boatinglake area to a Town Park over the life time of the Plan5.1.5 Health FacilitiesThe South Eastern Health Bord Clinic is located on Pond Road. A range ofservices are provided for at this location including public nursing, dentalservices and community welfare. There is a meals on wheels service providedfor the elderly and disabled from this centre as well as a general drop in centre.The Council has adopted the Barcelona Declaration and its series of agreementsknown collectively as the Declarations of Cities and the Disabled. The Plantakes account of the Declaration and seeks to advance the implementation ofagreements, across the range of activities, services and physical surroundingswhich affect the disabled.5.2 EDUCATIONAt present there are three primary schools in Tramore.Glor na MaraGael Scoil Philib BarunHoly Cross School(Girls and infant boys)(Mixed)(Mixed)Post primary education needs in the town are catered for by two schoolsStella Maris Secondary SchoolChristian Brothers School(Girls)(Boys)39
