The first thing I want to do is to let you know that your child’s studentassignment notice can be found in his/her Friday Folder. Please look in his/her backpack to findit. As you can see most of the students are able to grandfather and stay here. If you want totransfer or attend a magnet, please read the contents of the enclosed assignment. Any questionscan be referred to Ellen Dupre, our data manager or Wake County Public School System StudentAssignment Department.Please remember that Kindergarten registration is Monday, January 7 th from 8:30am – 3:00pm inour Media Center.I saw the best Common Core lesson this week in a first grade classroom. The students knew thestructures and systems as they worked in small groups on varied word work skills. There was amix of hands-on, partner discussions, and small group questioning skills that went beyond thecognitive level to the higher order level of thinking. The teacher held guided reading groups asstudents self – managed and regulated. All student talk was curriculum related!!! Differentmodalities were implemented to meet the different learning styles of the students. I was trulyimpressed!Auditions will take place on Wednesday, January 9 th for this year’s play, “Cinderella” for grades2-5. Please send a note to your child’s teacher if your child will be staying after school toparticipate. Auditions will be held from 4:00pm until 5:30pm. Please form a line in the carpoollane to pick up your child rather than come into the school. We will be using different areasthroughout the school for these auditions.
