Parent & Child Aquatics (Ages 6 months to under 4 years)<br />
• Class size is limited to 10 parents & 10 children, and parents are in the<br />
water with their child.<br />
• <strong>The</strong> focus <strong>of</strong> this class is to provide guidance to parents on what skills to<br />
practice with children until children are skilled or old enough to participate<br />
in a preschool class.<br />
• Children will explore submerging their mouth, nose, and eyes, and gliding<br />
on the their front and back with assistance.<br />
Preschool Aquatics – Level 1 (ages 4 to under 6)<br />
• Class size is limited to 4 children. Parents are not in the water.<br />
• This class is for beginners, ages 4 and 5, and focuses on submerging the<br />
mouth, nose, and eyes, blowing bubbles through the mouth and nose,<br />
bobbing, and retrieving submerged objects.<br />
• Leg action and arm action on the front and back are introduced.<br />
Preschool Aquatics – Level 2 (ages 4 to under 6)<br />
• Class size is limited to 6 children, and is for children with swimming experience,<br />
ages 4 and 5.<br />
• Children should be familiar with the front crawl and back stroke, and<br />
floating on their front and back.<br />
• Combined arm and leg actions on the front and back are practiced.<br />
• Treading water using arms and legs is introduced.<br />
Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills (ages 6 and up)<br />
• Class size is limited to 6 children, and is for beginners, ages 6 and up.<br />
• Children learn to submerge the face, bob, retrieve submerged objects,<br />
and float on their front and back.<br />
• <strong>The</strong> focus <strong>of</strong> this class is on arm and leg action on the front and back.<br />
Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills (ages 6 and up)<br />
• Class size is limited to 6 children, and is for children with swimming experience,<br />
ages 6 and up.<br />
• Children should be familiar with both the front crawl and back stroke.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se strokes will be reinforced.<br />
• Treading water using arms and legs is introduced.<br />
• Floating and gliding on the front and back is practiced.<br />
HIGH 5 BASKETBALL Ages 8-22<br />

<strong>The</strong> program consists <strong>of</strong> one-half hour <strong>of</strong> warm-up and skill<br />
drills, followed by a one-half hour game, every week. Every<br />
team has an assigned coach and each child is assigned a “B-Ball<br />
Buddy” to individually encourage and assist the child as needed<br />
throughout the drills and game. All participating children<br />
receive an award after each weekly game. HIGH 5 is played on<br />
Sunday afternoons at the Sugar Sand Park Field House.<br />

DESCRIPTION OF SWIM LESSON LEVELS<br />
If you are unsure <strong>of</strong> what level <strong>of</strong> swim lessons your child should be in,<br />
please call either pool to set up a water assessment evaluation.<br />
Special Populations / Special Needs<br />
Level 3 – Stroke Development (ages 6 and up)<br />
• Class size is limited to 6 students, and is for children comfortable with<br />
Level 2 skills.<br />
• Front crawl, back stroke, breathing to the side, and treading water are<br />
reinforced.<br />
• Scissor, butterfly, and breaststroke kicks, are introduced. Elementary<br />
backstroke is introduced.<br />
Level 4 – Stroke Improvement (ages 6 and up)<br />
• Class size is limited to 6 students, and is for children comfortable with<br />
Level 3 skills.<br />
• Breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, swimming underwater, and headfirst<br />
entries are introduced.<br />
• All 4 competitive strokes are practiced in this level.<br />
Level 5 – Stroke Refinement (ages 6 and up)<br />
• Class size is limited to 10 students, and is for children comfortable with<br />
Level 4 skills.<br />
• All 4 competitive strokes are reinforced. <strong>The</strong> yardage swam is increased.<br />
• Flip turns in the front crawl and backstroke are introduced.<br />
Adults (ages 18 and up)<br />
• Class size is limited to 6 students, and is for swimmers <strong>of</strong> any skill level.<br />
From beginners to experienced swimmers, all are welcome.<br />
• Adults will be taught basic swimming skills leading up to and including<br />
the crawl stroke with rhythmic breathing, back floating, back crawl, and<br />
flip-turns.<br />
Adaptive Aquatics – Swim Lessons for Individual<br />
with Special Needs (ages 4 and up)<br />
• Adaptive Aquatics is a one-on-one swim program for children and adults<br />
with special needs.<br />
• This program is designed to help teach participants how to become more<br />
comfortable in the water while learning essential swimming techniques in<br />
a fun environment.<br />
• Each session consists <strong>of</strong> eight 30-minutes lessons, to be scheduled once<br />
per week for eight weeks.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Boca</strong> <strong>Raton</strong> Recreation Services Department is committed to supporting and complying with the American with<br />

TOPSoccer Ages 5-19<br />

TOPSoccer is an outreach program <strong>of</strong> SABR and the u.S. Youth<br />
Soccer Association for young athletes with disabilities. <strong>The</strong><br />
community-based program is a modified version <strong>of</strong> the game,<br />
designed to provide opportunities for special needs athletes<br />
to enjoy the game. Each player has a volunteer “Soccer Buddy”<br />
to assist them at practices and games. TOPSoccer is played<br />
Saturday afternoons at university Woodlands Park.<br />
